LEAF EVOLUTION
This piece of work is a series of prints consisting of four sets of three prints based on imagery and ideas related to subjects including alchemy, mediaeval medicine and archaeology. It consists of a life size body outline, layered with other imagery and marks. The figures loosely represent the 4 elements, plus a film installation representing the fifth element.
The four sets of prints form a large work suitable for installation in a public place or institution.
Some of the ingredients in “Leaf Evolution” are: the Green Man of British folklore, the Golem of Eastern European folklore, the painted assemblages of Arcimboldo, Max Ernst’s frottages, particularly “Histoire Naturelle”, the alchemical creation of a “homunculus”, human’s relation (or not) to nature.
